I Was Too Happy

For some reason he felt he had the right to rain on my parade

This morning I woke up and I just felt good. I felt happy, and so I started to sing. The song? I Will Enter His Gates. For those who are unfamiliar with the song, it’s a Christian hymn and it’s just plain joyous.

Here are the lyrics:

I will enter His gates with thanksgiving in my heart;
I will enter His courts with praise.
I will say this is the day that the Lord has made.
I will rejoice for He has made me glad.
He has made me glad, He has made me glad,
I will rejoice for He has made me glad.
He has made me glad, He has made me glad,
I will rejoice for He has made me glad.

Simple and easy enough for even a musically inept person like myself to sing and rejoice.

When I was a child, I was prone to spontaneous bursts of song when I felt happy. Which unfortunately became more rare as I grew older. Adolescence is such a tragic time, isn’t it? More for those who suffer your moods, I imagine.

When I was 20 I became a Christian, and suddenly my heart was transported to the joy of my childhood. Christ restored this.
