I wish people would stop hating on Shannon Ashley
If you don’t like her articles, don’t read them
I remember when I first subscribed to Medium. I loved some writers, disliked a few, and was indifferent to others, Shannon Ashley among them. I read a few of her articles because she was popular, but they did not appeal to me.
So what?
Everyone has different tastes. For example, some people hate the Twilight series, yet Stephanie Meyer sold a ton of books and the movies were also quite popular. Same with Harry Potter. I had evangelical friends who refused to allow their children to read those books because, magic. Whatever. I thought J.K. Rowling was creative and witty. Now she is embroiled in controversy, and hatred has been sent her way as well.
Whatever your opinions on Rowling, or Ashley for that matter, here’s one thing I don’t understand. What is the point of wasting your time and energy hating on them?
I particularly don’t get the impulse to tear down Shannon Ashley.
From the articles I’ve read from her — maybe a handful over the last couple of years — I know she has some struggles. She’s a single mom and she’s dealing with a seriously horrible medical condition, lipedema.
