I’m a big believer in free markets, but not crony capitalism. What makes it even worse is that big businesses hire lobbyists that make sure that laws favor them vs. allowing for free competition. The CARES act that just passed is an example of how large corporations always do better.

You and I want the little guy to benefit. Someone who lost his or her job, small businesses, etc. Yet many small businesses have not been able to get any funds while large corporations get 75% of the money that was set aside. As a taxpayer this is not what I want. This is one reason I was so disappointed when the Dems selected Joe Biden. He’s another corporate shill. What about Andrew Yang or Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren?

Now, the types of businesses I was describing are things like restaurants, hair salons, etc. Many immigrants have come to this country and started up those types of small businesses. When I was in college, a friend of mine was the son of immigrants from China. They started a Chinese restaurant.

My friend remembers when he was a kid, he’d come home from school and be expected to help out. He bus’ed tables while doing his homework, and he also helped wash dishes. He was one of four kids.

The parents busted their butts, and so did the kids, but by the time they were college age, the parents were able to send each of them to a good school and give them each a car.

However all of this was a few decades ago. My friend is now 50 years old. I don’t know how much harder it is now to start even something like a restaurant.

But our government should be working for its citizens — not just for giant corporations.
