I'm a Christian. Here is the thing - all have sinned and fall short, right? That includes Christians. When someone says they are a Christian - they could just spout the appropriate words but not really mean them. Plenty of people who know the lingo. Just about any of the televangelists, for example. If the guy is asking for dollars, he is using religion as a scam.

Plenty of narcissists, sociopaths, etc., in all groups, including among religious people. Watch what they do, not what they say.

As a Christian, I try to do what God is calling me to do - love others, serve God, etc. But I'm certainly not perfect, and there are times I have screwed up too. So then I ask the person and also God for forgiveness and try not to mess up again. But as a human being, of course I mess up. All we can do is try our best and trust in God's mercy and grace.

If someone claims to be perfect, claims to have all the answers, seems too good to be true... hmmm....
