I’m Painting Again!
This one is dedicated to a deceased friend
My church likes to display artwork that was created by its members. For Pentecost, I was asked to help create banners, using watercolors and sheets of watercolor paper.
The lady who asked me is a friend whose mother used to create banners using long swaths of fabric which she would sew beautiful hand-cut decorations on. These were very appreciated by the church.
However, she died a few years ago of cancer.
When my friend asked me to help her create the banners… it reminded me of her mother and it touched my heart.
I wasn’t sure how good a job I could do, because, thanks to chemo-induced neuropathy, plus my brain surgery, my hands don’t work the way they used to. However, in recent weeks the situation seems to be getting better.
It took me a while to get the hang of painting again, but I was so happy doing it. I put on music I loved and just let my mind drift into happy places.
One of the paintings I created is shown above. It is my favorite of the ones I created, though I am finishing up another which I think I will also really like.
