In general there is nothing wrong with a healthy pregnant woman walking BUT in this particular case the woman was very tired, had had bad news, and had never asked for a ride from her mom since she already had a friend lined up to help.

The mother absolutely needs to apologize. She has no concept of healthy boundaries. Next time something like this comes up, she needs to stick to her guns and refuse to accept "help" that is anything but helpful.
