In India many people still go to the market every day, and there are other countries, like Italy and France, where they also do that. Because, at least with food - they like to touch it, smell it, etc., before buying.

For many people, even for stuff like electronics - they want to see it before they buy. But then they buy online 'cause it's cheaper.

So what storefronts might start doing - charge a membership fee.

For banking - I can't imagine my elderly Mom going only online for banking. Same with many older folks. As that generation dies out - maybe but I suspect there will always be a few people who insist on going to the bank. But I bet it will mostly be the small credit unions and community banks while the big chains go to online only.

Who knows for sure, but your article got me thinking!
