I’ve known people who are afraid to try Indian food. Or they will go to an Indian restaurant, not know what to order, and get something that is too spicy or “weird”.
Yet Indian food comes in so many different varieties that it’s actually really easy to find something you’ll like.
- Are you a vegetarian or vegan? India is full of people who don’t eat meat for religious reasons. It has a varied and delicious tradition of vegetarian meals to choose from.
- Do you love meat? There are also tons of options for meat lovers, including an Indian version of barbecue.
- Do you have low spice tolerance? Believe it or not, there are Indian dishes that are not particularly spicy. Avoid the vindaloo and go for korma or biryani. Also, most restaurants will be happy to modify the spice level if you ask.
- Do you want healthy options? Avoid the fried food and the heavy sauces. That still leaves you with many options.
- Do you crave spice? The hotter the better? Try a vindaloo!
