interestingly, this has been going on for ages. In old British novels, for example, you'll find rich heiresses are more easily married off than their equally upper-class but poorer sisters. Men have always been greedy. I agree with you though, sometimes sugar babies (male or female) and trophy spouses can really love their partners.

My SIL was in this type of marriage - my ex husband's family looked down on his youngest brother for living off his rich wife, but they were actually very happy together. The brother DID work part time, and he also did most of the household chores. I suspect he was also very good in bed. She always seemed happy and didn't seem to mind supporting him.
