Is Bernie getting screwed again?

The DNC needs to stop playing games

I stayed up to watch the Iowa caucuses. Big mistake.

Now, there is a meme going around about how, if the Dems can’t even manage an app, how can they manage health care for all? The problem with this meme is that apps actually ARE tricky to design well. It’s plausible that an app could fail first time out of the box even if it was designed by a reputable firm.

Of course, the real problem is — why the heck did the DNC not test the app? Anyone who works in software knows — you always test the code before you release it. Of course, one problem is that politicians tend to be lawyers, who got their undergraduate degrees in the liberal arts. They have no clue about how to design code or that it needs to be tested.

Then of course there is the fact that the first people using the App were untrained volunteers… so of course they would experience issues and want to call customer support, which, surprise, was unavailable.

All of this makes the Iowa DNC look like a clown car heading for the edge of a cliff. It’s hilarious in retrospect but it’s a dark humor.

Because the reality is that once again it seems that our democratic process has been screwed, and once again the victim is Bernie Sanders.
