I am anti-war. I don’t want mothers and fathers to be mourning the death of their children. I don’t want humanity to devastate the environment with bombs. I realize that sometimes war is an unfortunate necessity, but I believe everything possible should be done to avoid it.

Yet, unfortunately, that is not the world we live in.

We used to have figures like Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr., who advocated non-violence. We also had Abraham Lincoln, who, despite leading us through a horrible Civil War, tried to be a peacemaker after. In his second inaugural address, he said, “with malice toward none, with charity for all… to bind up the nation’s wounds.”

I wrote about these men here:

I want our country and the world to avoid more armed conflicts.

Yet it seems we are currently provoking a war with China.

It’s happening thanks to both the Democrats and the Republicans.
