It’s OK To Break A Fast Early
Listen to your body, not the schedule
Many people fast to lose weight, and if you are carrying extra pounds you’d like to lose — fasting could be the solution you are looking for. Of course, everyone’s situation is different. When it comes to our bodies, we have to recognize we are all individuals and there isn’t a “one size fits all” solution. So, while fasting will help many people with their weight loss goals, it isn’t for everyone.
However, it did help me lose weight. I started intermittent fasting when I got cancer, partly because I had heard it had health benefits, and also partly to lose weight. I knew that excess weight could contribute to my illness, and I wanted to live.
I ended up losing almost 100 pounds.
While this was a side-effect I appreciated, it wasn’t the primary reason I was fasting, and, in fact, the weight loss fasting provides has now become a problem for me.
According to my oncologist, I should not lose any more weight. She advised me to eat more sandwiches and pasta! This is because cancer patients need to maintain a few extra pounds.
Yet, I still fast. Not to lose weight, but for my health.
However, between periodic fasts, I now make sure to eat a LOT of food. I have several meals throughout…
