I've seen photographs of little girls being forced to marry grown men in Afghanistan, and it's disgusting.

A 10 year old difference is no biggie if it's a 35 year old man with a 25 year old woman. If it's a 14 year old girl with a 24 year old man, it's HUGE.

The ways that adults abuse children stun me. I watched a documentary where a 7 year old girl in Egypt had her clitoris cut off by a grown man while her parents looked on in approval. Ghastly. Of course, male babies have foreskins cut off, as well. Do they consent?

The power differential between a 13 year old girl and a 30 year old man makes the thought of consent problematic. I've read interviews of girls like this, including those who were practicing polygamy in the Mormon church, who make it clear, as adults, that they were damaged by what happened to them as young girls.
