Jesus said that anyone who hurt a child, it would be like a millstone around his neck.

Can we be forgiven for our sins? Yes. But we still have to take responsibility for what we have done. That means if you are a murderer, and you ask God's forgiveness - He will forgive you if you mean it. But it is your responsibility to confess your crime and take whatever punishment is given, including the chair if that is the earthly judgment.

Salvation does not give someone a free pass to do whatever he or she wants. The person who accepts Christ is to go forth and sin no more. Because we are human beings, we continue to fall, and have to pick ourselves up and keep trying. Sitting on our butts and continuing to consciously do bad things because we're going to be forgiven - nope, not an option. Forgiveness is given, but that doesn't absolve us of the responsibility to keep trying.
