Laughing When The Doctor’s Office Screws Things Up

They may think M.D. stands for Minor Deity, but they really are just human like the rest of us

Yesterday I had quite a frustrating day. I spent some time ranting and raving. Was this a productive use of time? Not really, but it made me feel better.

The issue came down to scheduling mishaps and miscommunications.

I needed to schedule an MRI to make sure that my bone cancer was actually shrinking and not growing. That’s an important metric. Unfortunately, MRIs are tough for me. I need to be sedated to get through them, and so I need a ride.

I also need a blood test done.

Ideally, I could schedule both tests the same day — do the blood draw first, then take the sedative and get the MRI done.

I specifically asked, the last time I had chemo, that I could have everything scheduled the same day. I asked a couple of weeks in advance for the MRI and then a week in advance for the blood draw.

The scheduler told me, in person, that it would all be scheduled the way I wanted and they would send me an email confirmation.
