I call B.S. on that

Potentially politically incorrect joke alert… Q: So, what does a lesbian bring on a second date? A: A U-Haul.

I’ve told this joke to lesbian friends. They’ve laughed. But they know I know that not all lesbians fit a stereotype. Lesbians come in all shapes and sizes and character traits just like any other human beings.

My first encounter with a lesbian was in high school. I was a junior and one of my best friends came out to me. Let’s call her Sophie. We were in Central Park at the time. We were sitting on the grass talking and chatting. She decided to sing a song to me. It was one of her more annoying habits. She had this really delicate, high pitched singing voice that she thought was fabulous. I would rather have listened to tires squealing. However, I would politely tolerate these episodes, while looking for something, anything, to distract her.

Fortunately Central Park provides a multitude of distractions on any given day, and that day was no different. A totally naked, beautifully molded dark chocolate African American woman ambled past us. She looked totally confident and relaxed. I was stunned. My jaw opened. Happily, so did my friend’s. We enjoyed this bizarre spectacle in silence.
