Lizzo Plays Madison’s Crystal Flute
She was amazing!
I’ve never really listened to Lizzo’s music, because I’m not a big fan of hip-hop. Nothing against that genre, but it’s not my taste.
It’s not that I don’t enjoy most types of music — from classical composers to classic jazz artists like Thelonious Monk to experimental stuff and folk music from many cultures and continents.
But hip-hop, country, and rap seldom speak to me.
So when a friend told me that there was a video of Lizzo playing James Madison’s crystal flute… it was with some trepidation that I tuned in.
I was blown away.
She is amazing.
Here is someone who won awards at the 2020 Grammys for Best Urban Contemporary Album, Best Pop Solo Performance, and Best Traditional R&B Performance. Obviously she is immensely talented.
To find out she is also a classically trained flutist of immense skill was, to me, a fantastic discovery. I love how multi-faceted she is!
