Meanwhile, here in the US, Mark Twain has been removed from children's reading lists as have other American classics. Books like Matilda and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory were special to many children and for them to be so drastically changed is very wrong. I've read that they are thinking of removing Tolkien and the Narnia books from school shelves. I suppose we will be left with the intellectual equivalent of white bread - devoid of nourishment but at least non-offensive.
