Losing Weight Quickly

There was a reason for it

Recently I lost about 7 pounds in about 5 days.

No, I wasn’t suriviving on grapefruit and cabbage soup, though I actually have liked both at various points in my life.

However, it’s easy to understand when you get that I had gained weight as quickly and easily.

Which is not normal.

The human body has it’s own set points.

Because of this, both losing and gaining large amounts is not always easy.

However, because of the side effects of my cancer, I had to take corticosteroids.

Within about 3 weeks, this regimen of pills accomplished several things.

  • My headaches went away
  • My energy levels soared but my sleep cycle was screwed
  • My ability to think and solve problems improved
  • I gained about 20 pounds in (mostly) water weight

I gradually tapered off the steroids over a 10 day timeframe, and then started to live steroid free.

About a week into that process, I had lost 5 pounds. And yes, I suspect it was mostly water weight that I lost.
