Re. the divorce - I've seen it from both sides (horrible ex husbands as well as ex wives). It basically reflects bad character and lack of decency, IMHO. Particularly if there are children involved - it's evil to ruin a child's relationship with a parent to get revenge or whatever.

I am divorced, but my ex and I did it without lawyers here in Texas. It cost us less than $200 total.

I proposed what I thought was a fair agreement, in writing. He came back with changes he wanted. I made a few more changes. He accepted. We printed out a few copies, got them notarized, and turned everything in to the court. We were able to remain friends because we didn't act like a**es.
