maybe, maybe not. Lots of unarmed people have gotten beat up at these riots, as well as buildings being burned down, shops looted, etc.

Rosenbaum apparently was looking for someone to mess with - he was depressed, had been kicked out by his gf, etc. (Turns out Rosenbaum was a convicted child molester, and his gf didn't want him around). Then again, if Rittenhouse hadn't been walking around armed, Rosenbaum might have picked on someone else. Who knows? Maybe Rosenbaum thought Rittenhouse would be an easy target, since he was only 17.

Rittenhouse's parents should have told him no way was he going to go to a riot.

But the other part of the story is - what kind of idiot would chase after an armed person? If a gunman was running AWAY from me - I'd let them go. I wouldn't chase them!
