Meghan Markle Adopts Beagle
She and Prince Harry are giving this rescued dog a good home
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry recently adopted a new dog — an older beagle named Mama Mia. The dog was one of 4,000 beagles recently rescued from Envigo, which bred dogs that were used in research.

Mama Mia is 7 years old. She was used as breeding stock. Like the other dogs at the breeding facility, her whole life was spent indoors, in a dark, small, metal cage. She had no toys and she had a number tattooed on her ear.
Thanks to Meghan and Harry, now this pup lives with their family.
According to the LA Times, the Duchess made it clear that she didn’t want a puppy. She wanted an older dog. Older dogs have a harder time being adopted than puppies.
This is not Meghan’s first rescue beagle, either.
