My parents are from India. My father has passed away, but my Mom lives with me. It does restrict some of my choices, but I'm happy to have her. She adds a lot to my life.

As an Indian, I guess I have always been appalled by nursing homes. I figured there are some instances (dementia, Alzheimers) where it might be necessary but I feel it's good for family to take care of each other. I know right now with Covid, I am so glad Mom is not in a nursing home.

That being said... I really rebelled against my Indian parents when I was younger. I wanted my independence. I think one reason I'm fine with Mom living with me now is that she let me go when I was younger.
