My Prayer For Children
Why are we killing our future?
I made a mistake tuning into the news this morning. It made me so sad. As someone fighting cancer, I need to stay in a positive place, so it was a mistake. However, I know that this will not help them.
So I prayed.
I prayed for both the Jews and the Arabs. I have lovely Muslim friends and lovely Jewish friends. I love them both. And they have children. They love them so much. I pray for their children.
My heart cries out for the children who no longer have a future. I wish people would stop killing each other and learn to live in peace. That is probably too much to ask for.
So my prayer today — Please God, protect the children of the world. I know you love them. ALL of them.
Not just the children caught in warzones, innocents who are killed simply for being in the way. Collateral damage. What an evil phrase, because it equates them with detritis.
I also pray for children who are used as slaves in toxic mining operations, those kidnapped for use as sex slaves, those who are abused by their own families. I pray for the children in blighted urban areas in our own country who feel hopeless and scared.
Children are vulnerable. Those in power should create a world where they are safe. What is more important to our future?
I am fighting stage IV cancer. If you can help with medical bills, I would really appreciate it. Or if you enjoy my writing and would like to buy me a cup of coffee, that’s great too. Maybe someday I can return the favor.
