My last package of Parle biscuits which I gave to the Pakistani lady who delivered my groceries

As many of you know, I am fighting cancer. I had a chemo treatment Monday that wiped me out. I was basically debilitated for the rest of the day. My 83 year old mother had to fetch and carry for me because I was so weak and I needed help to get to the bathroom.

Tuesday I felt better — while I was still pretty tired and felt nauseous, I wasn’t throwing up. I took some medication to help me eat light meals.

This morning I felt even better, but I was still somewhat unbalanced when I walked. I was using my cane to get around.

I got a call from a friend offering to buy me and Mom groceries. Given the medical bills I’ve had to pay, money is tight right now, and I really appreciated this. He is white and an atheist.

A couple delivered the groceries — they are Pakistani Muslims. When they saw that my mother and I would have a hard time managing the packages, they offered to bring everything inside for us. I asked them to set everything on the counter, which would make it easier for Mom and I to put things away.

My mother is a Hindu from India, and I am a Christian who grew up in America.
