One question — did the husband also want the child? If this was a situation where the woman really wanted a child and the man was like, whatever, then he might resent the additional bills.

OTOH, if he was the one who really wanted the baby, or if it was a joint decision, I’m surprised he isn’t being more proactive about being involved.

I guess this situation makes a good case for talking things over before you have a baby.
