What is pleasure-based sex education?
It is sex education that emphasizes giving and receiving pleasure not only in sexual activity but also in relationships in general. It’s no wonder this type of sex education results in healthier sex lives and in better relationships.
It also jives with what I’ve been taught as a Christian.
I remember a sermon by an older priest at a Catholic church I went to in Colorado. At one point he asked if we knew what the most important component was in a marriage.
Members of the congregation shouted out guesses. None were right. Then he told us what he’d seen in every marriage that stood the test of time — and he’d seen and counseled hundreds of couples.
The answer? Generosity.
Not just material but also emotional generosity.
In my 20s, I read a book written by a Christian author. It was advice to men on a happy marriage. One thing that stood out for me — the author talked about how important it was for the husband to care for his wife’s sexual pleasure.
