Praying for my Cleaning Lady

She hasn’t seen her son in 7 years

I have type IV cancer. After surgery and chemo and radiation, I am left very weak and sometimes I have a hard time keeping my balance when I walk so I sometimes need a rollater to get around the house.

My mother is 84 years old and has arthritis.

Obviously it’s hard for us to keep a clean house.

And we can’t afford to pay for a cleaning service ourselves.

Fortunately, I have a cousin who can and who cares about us. He is one of the angels in my life and I am very fortunate to have him.

Two ladies were here cleaning this morning and I decided to practice my Spanish such as it is not.

I surprised myself, able to at least exchange a few sentences with the more outgoing lady. My new friend was very patient with me.

Then I found out she had three children. tres ninos. And we pulled out the translator at that point as that was the extent of my ability to communicate.

She had immigrated from Honduras 7 years ago. In that time she has not seen her eldest son. All she has of him are her pictures. A voice on the phone.

I offered her sympathy for her hurting heart. I gave her a hug and said a prayer that she is able to see him again soon and that God will keep him safe.

We made a connection that touched me. I can’t imagine being apart from a child for so long.
