racism exists, including in England. I'm a person of Indian descent who visited London on holiday back in the '90s and yes, I did see signs of racism.

I also saw, for the most part, civility, courtesy, graciousness, kindness... most of my encounters with white Britons were pleasant and polite. Most of the white Britons I interacted with were not racist. Many were reserved, but that is part of the British culture. Underneath the reserve is genuine kindness.

Here's my take on what happened with Meghan. She didn't do her research. When you marry someone, you also marry their family. How much more is that the case when it's a royal family??

If Meghan had done her homework ahead of time, she would have been better prepared for what she encountered. Some of what she might have thought was racism might simply have been normal British reserve. For example, the palace staff would have been much less familiar with her than servants are in the US, and it's not due to racism - it's due to training against familiarity.

When you move to a new place, you should attempt to integrate within that culture, not try to make everyone else change to please you. That is just good manners.
