Read about Greek and Roman slaves. They were not considered human either. And the children of slaves in those cultures were sold, and slaves were killed. Aristotle argued that slaves were merely machines, not people.

In the Americas, Aztecs cut out the hearts of slaves on their pyramids. They didn't breed slaves, though.
