I am a Christian and I love my personal faith. Particularly while going through cancer, my faith has meant a lot to me.

One thing that helped me deal with the pain of brain surgery and chemotherapy — I listened to hymns. Because of the deep meditative state this helped me achieve, I was able to take only about a third of the pain pills prescribed after my surgery, which amazed my nurses. I also endured chemo very well.

However, just because my own faith helped me so deeply does not mean I have any right to push it on anyone else.

This is one of the main problems with the evangelistic religions — Christianity, Islam and The Church of the Latter Day Saints. Each of these has it’s proselytizers.

If they are respectful and simply want to engage in dialog — I am OK with that. I myself became a Christian at age 20. My parents are Jain and Hindu. I converted because I found more love in the Christian church. That became the basis of my faith — my loving relationship with my Creator.

However, many people have found only pain within the Christian church.

Similarly, people have left the Mormon church or Islam.
