“Saving Money” By Eating At McDonald’s

Why this is not a great idea

Inflation has been rising this year, and there are families struggling to feed themselves. I know how it goes because I’ve been there, though in my case, it was my being a broke grad student and bringing home $630 a month after FICA deductions.

I have also known several friends who have lived through poverty.

I published an article back in September about how we kept ourselves well-fed:

Recently someone responded to me that they just use the McDonald’s app most days and they pointed out that not everyone has access to transportation, a clean place to cook, or cooking knowledge.

However, none of these complaints really holds up for most people.

When I was in graduate school, I didn’t have a car. I walked or took the bus and had friends who rode their bikes. I realize this might be harder for a single mom, but my own family didn’t get a car until I was 13. Until then, my mother walked or took the bus to get groceries. My grandmother in India did…
