Why is America so woeful in comparison?
Yesterday I wrote about the history of American school lunches and the importance of good nutrition to growing children:
While originally American school lunches were fairly healthy, nowadays they are often full of fried foods like chicken tenders. Corn chips might be served as a side dish and a chocolate donut served for dessert. Obviously none of these are healthy options.
When Michelle Obama made a valiant effort to improve the quality of school lunches, she found pushback. People said children refused to eat vegetables and so food was thrown out.
However, in other countries, that is not allowed.

In France, children are expected to eat what they are served. While Americans cater to children, in France they don’t do that.
French parents insist that their children eat like little adults. This means not only that young children are exposed to a variety of flavors…
