Some cultures are more strict than others, and that includes white cultures. I don't condone physical abuse, but children do need consistency and rules and they thrive in a more disciplined, yet loving environment. With the black families you named, it's really obvious that while the parents might be strict, they also really love their children. One show I loved was Family Matters. I thought the Winslows were a great family and Erkel cracked me up.
