Some people allow their hatred of Trump to blind them.

If you look at his handling of the pandemic OBJECTIVELY, he has done some good stuff and also made some mistakes. Pretty much what any other human being would do if thrown into a situation like this. It’s really easy to second-guess someone when you’re not in that position. It’s much harder to lead than it is to criticize.

As far as the drug — I think he genuinely thought it might be helpful, and there is anecdotal evidence it might help some people.

It’s not poison. It’s been FDA approved to treat other medical conditions, and no one can get it without a prescription.

Doctors are not idiots. They won’t hand the drug out to patients simply because Trump mentioned it. They will do their own due diligence. The drug does have side effects. Like anything, doctors have to take all of that into account.

Apparently, for at-risk patients who are given the drug early in their treatment, there are good outcomes. As time goes on, and more data points are established, we’ll find out more.
