Sun Worship in the age of Coronavirus
Go to the beach, but keep your space
Everyone loves the sun. There’s a Beatles song celebrating its return. Ancient peoples worshiped sun gods. They worshiped cats, too, and cats love the sun. Maybe there’s a connection there. Cats know a good thing, right?
So does this mean we should all head down to the beach? Not so fast.
We live in the age of Coronavirus. No one wants to end up isolated in a clean room, hooked up to a machine to breathe. Or, even worse, turned away because there aren’t enough machines to go around.
It’s a scary situation.
One of the best things we can do is not to panic. Instead, stay calm and focus on things that are actually helpful.
For example, wash your hands with soap and water while singing your favorite 20 second song. Practice social distance. Don’t touch your face. And… get some fresh air and sunshine.
I don’t know if your mom told you to go outside and play when you were a kid. My Mom did. She said it was good for our health. I always suspected it was a way to keep us out of her hair while she was cooking dinner.
Turns out though that it was good for us.
