thanks for your comment.

I never said children should be indentured servants, however, my ex, for example, WANTED to deliver papers. He was 10 and he liked riding his bike and doing it and getting paid.

For years, my neighbor's sons came and asked if they could mow my lawn. They wanted the money. When they got older, they worked at a local burger place. The work isn't fun, but they learned valuable life skills like - show up on time. They kept and saved their money, and, I can't emphasize this enough - they wanted to do this.

Their sister started her own business baking cookies for people. At first it was just friends and relatives, then she started posting on social media. She didn't want to go to college, she used her money to put a down payment on a house.

Her sister OTOH, worked after school at an ice cream parlor, and the money she saved helped pay for college. She didn't need to take out student loans.

Another friend of mine - their oldest son is 12 and he likes to play minecraft. he's started creating avatars to sell to friends for $10 apiece. He's sold like 20 of them.

This is all stuff the kids are doing because THEY WANT TO. They like earning money. They like having a savings account. They know more about money than I did at their age!
