That’s something similar to what my ex and I did — we got together with his siblings and came up with a plan to pay his mother’s bills directly instead of giving her money which would often get spent before the bills came due.

No one wants their mother to be homeless, but that doesn’t mean it always makes sense to pay them cash. If they can’t manage money, it’s much better to pay their bills directly.
