The Best Time to Invest Is Any Time
Do it regularly, no matter what the market is doing
You can’t make money if you are not in the market.
I know this as someone who has been out of the market for a while. That was due to some unfortunate circumstances.
At one point, it was because I had an extremely aggressive cancer that had me bedridden and unable to work. At another point, it was because my husband was an alcoholic whose drinking landed us deeper into debt.
Before I got married, while I was in graduate school, I routinely invested. If I had maintained this habit, I might be a millionaire by now. In fact, given the statistics regarding the U.S. stock market — I would be.
So to some degree, I can blame circumstances for my poor financial state.
However, I also have to take some responsibility.
Once you take responsibility, then that gives you the power to change.
Right now, I am not in a position to invest because I am spending so much on medical bills. However one day this will change. So I try to keep following the economy and the market, so that, when, God willing, I am cancer free again and no longer spending everything on medical care, I’ll be ready to take this back up.
