The CCP Are Angry We Shot Down Their “Weather Balloon”
They also initially claimed COVID didn’t exist
Recently I read that China Daily (China’s largest news outlet) claimed that President Biden’s shooting down one of its balloons made the U.S. military look weaker. The op-ed (which also appeared in the People’s Daily) claimed that Biden was trying to shore up his popularity and appear tough.
Back on February 3rd, a Chinese government spokesperson said that a Chinese balloon seen flying over the United States was a civilian craft used for scientific research such as meteorology.
Should we have believed them?
The balloon was eventually shot off the coast of South Carolina.
According to the New York Times, it was a surveillance balloon with tools to collect electronic communications. In other words, it was not a “weather balloon”. It was not a civilian craft. Neither are the others traveling in the skies above.
These balloons are under the control of the Chinese military, according to the U.S. State Department, and have so far flown over more than 40 countries.
Were these fabrications by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) just a one time thing?
