Take a look at the photo above. What do you see? Male friends who have spoken to me with candor have told me there are women they’d like “to do”. I would imagine the woman above fits that description.
What do we know about her though, aside from her obvious physical beauty? Does she have a sense of humor? Is she easy to get along with or high maintenance? Is she honest, intelligent, witty or brave? Does she like dogs? Can she make an omelette or an apple pie?
We don’t know any of that. All we know is what we see.
But this is how idealized women are portrayed. As looking a particular way.
In every rom-com, what do the women look like? Forget Shallow Hal. What do 99% of women in rom-coms look like? Do they have a thigh-gap? Wrinkle-free, blemish-free faces?
What about the women in action movies? What do they look like?
How does this affect men, and how they look for love?
Men are taught in modern society that this is what they should be looking for in a mate.
A lot has been written about how this impacts women. But it also harms men.
