One quibble I have — while someone in a slum might not become a Bill Gates, he or she might get out of the slum. Setting realistic targets based on your starting circumstances is a way to avoid feeling depressed.
Another thing I wish we did as a society — stop worshiping celebrity. Acknowledge that the person who buses your table or picks up your trash is just as deserving of respect. And maybe have a better work/life balance.
One thing I loved about Andrew Yang and the UBI — it would provide every American a certain base.
