This is heartbreaking.

I am not a vegan but I am very particular about where I get my meat. I eat wild caught seafood and pastured eggs. I sometimes buy grass fed, pastured beef. On rare occasions I’ll get pastured pork or chicken or other types of meat from small local farms where the animals are humanely treated. But… after reading your article… I am re-thinking veganism.

I’ve given up dairy because the only source I could find of milk where the calves were allowed to stay with their moms until weaned went out of business. So now I can’t do dairy.

I may not be able to do meat any more, or at least not pork. I don’t have a problem with the cycle of life and death. I once thought, if I were a Native American, and it was my time to die, I could walk into the forest and into the arms of a grizzly and let that be the end of it. So death is not the issue for me.

But suffering is. The suffering of innocent life bothers me tremendously.
