This is one thing that bothered me about Halle Berry, etc. Not that they aren’t beautiful but what about someone like Anok Yai, who I think is gorgeous, or Alek Wek, who I don’t care for as much but who is still lovely.

My parents are from India, and this is also something that happens in Asian communities — there are “fair and lovely” skin creams marketed to young women that contain toxic and deadly chemicals. Why not be happy with a healthy, vibrant dark complexion?

All skin shades should be beautiful.

One ironic thing — in the Bible, in the Song of Songs, the woman is darker skinned than her lover. And it’s incredibly sensuous…
