This is so interesting. I had a different experience when I visited Europe last year - I went to Hungary, Vienna and Czech Republic. Except in the Czech Republic, I found people to be friendly, but perhaps it is because, when I opened my mouth, they knew I was American? So they got to practice their English with me! But, in general, I didn't find people to be unfriendly. I had some nice conversations with waiters, bus drivers, etc. There were others who were grumpy, particularly in the Czech Republic, but even there, it wasn't too bad.

I think being a foreigner always attracts more friendliness wherever you go?
