There is a black family from Nigeria who comes to our church.

Every Sunday the family is dressed beautifully. The husband wears gorgeous traditional Nigerian clothing. The wife sometimes wears tradition dress that beautifully sets off her elegant figure. Sometimes she will wear Western styles as well.

They have two children. The younger child is an adorable toddler. The older child is a princess.

Today she was dressed in a beautiful white dress that made her look like a Disney princess.

She was the one who read the first Scripture reading. I think she is only 8 years old. Nevertheless, she reads very well.

Her father walked up the aisle of the church with her and helped her stand on the podium to speak. He stood behind her looking very proud as she read the scripture with great clarity.

The girl is confident and knows she is loved. She knows her father is proud of her and thinks she is beautiful. She knows her mother is respected and loved.

These things matter to a child.

When a little girl feels like a princess, she is empowered. When she knows her father is proud of her, she is empowered. When she knows her father respects…
