This reminds me of King David. Or of King Solomon. And many other Biblical figures - God used imperfect people.
Re. Trump - I'm ambivalent. Most top politicians are sociopaths. People who talk about how Obama was different haven't really examined the Chicago political machine, for example, or some of the shenanigans. Just like there are Republicans who deny some of what happened under Reagan.
If we compare Trump to other politicians, keeping in mind that the media was great about exposing Trump while it was more circumspect with some other politicians, how bad was Trump, really? (Note, I did not vote for Trump and begged friends of mine not to due to my research on him; nevertheless, I want to be fair to him.)
And now we have Biden, and I think a very good case can be made that he is worse than Trump. Some people think he has dementia. There is the pullout from Afghanistan, which basically left a working airport and lots of weapons for the Taliban and the Chinese, not to mention the Americans and allies abandoned. not to mention the recent Milley scandal. Under Trump we were energy independent. Not anymore thanks to shutting down the pipeline. There is a border crisis that is not being addressed, and many of the illegals being allowed into the country are infected with Covid. There is the growing deficit (though we've had that with every President for a long time now). And so on...
Meanwhile, we had several Democrats who were much better than Biden, just like there were several Republicans the last time around that would have been much better than Trump. But we seem inclined to pick the worst possible option...
