I’ve used them to help fight cancer

Many years ago, in 2004, when I was first diagnosed with cancer, I looked into alternative therapies that might help. At the time, I lived in Wichita Falls and frequented Sunshine Natural Foods. The owner was extremely knowledgeable and helpful.

When she found out I had cancer, she offered me a small discount on vitamins and other supplements I might need. She also offered me the use of her infrared sauna.

While she normally charged people to use it, for those fighting cancer, she would allow them up to 3 free 20 minute sessions per week.

I am not sure if infrared saunas are better than regular saunas when it comes to therapeutic value. Some literature suggests that an infrared sauna allows deeper heat penetration. I did find that I sweated more profusely with an infrared sauna.

There are benefits to using a sauna. I felt it helped me fight a very aggressive form of cancer. I was originally diagnosed in 2004 and they gave me 6 months. I do think that using alternative therapies such as the sauna helped me survive much longer than the doctors predicted.

Now that I’m fighting cancer again (this time it’s metastatic brain cancer), I am once again incorporating sauna into my routine. I probably should never have…
