Today I Saw A Beautiful Black Woman

I stopped to tell her so

I was with a friend at one of the few places I can eat these days. Thanks to my health issues, I have to be super careful what I put in my mouth.

That’s OK though, this particular place is really yummy.

While having lunch, I noticed an absolutely gorgeous black woman chatting with her friend. She was facing me and so I could see just how beautiful she was. She was dressed in somewhat traditional African clothes, including a turban that really framed her face.

So after we finished eating, I did something that may not have been appropriate. I walked towards her and, from a couple of yards away, I told her she was beautiful and how much I loved her turban.

I probably shouldn’t have done it, but I’m an artist.

In the past, I’ve gone up to people and asked if I could sketch them for a painting. I always ask. I never take someone’s image without permission. I have never had anyone tell me “no”.

I’m honest with people.

Sometimes the person is not what I consider beautiful, but they have interesting features or an expression that I need to capture. So I tell them that, not making up anything.
