Today Mom and I Worked on a Puzzle Together
We also played connect four
When I was a little girl, my Mom would buy puzzles for me and help me do them. When I was a wee child, she picked puzzles with just a few large pieces in bright colors. As I got older, I eventually got to the point where I preferred to do the puzzles by myself, and I worked on the 1,000 piece puzzles.
I never asked if Mom missed doing puzzles with me.
However, now she’s almost 84 years old. She’s not as sharp as she once was but she’s still got a ton of wisdom and she’s incredibly generous and kind. She forgives easily though she never forgets.
I realized that it would probably do her, and me, a lot of good to do puzzles together.
Mom needs to keep working her brain, and, thanks to brain cancer, I sorta need to exercise mine too.
With that in mind, I got a set of three beautiful puzzles off Amazon for about $18. They are specifically for seniors. Like little kids’ puzzles, they have fewer and larger pieces. However the scenes are appealing to adults.
I got the set featuring animals since Mom and I both love them.
We had fun working together on completing the puzzle and I could see how it made her think. I deliberately tried to not solve the puzzle…
